Volunteer Registration

  • Returning volunteers will receive an email when registration is open and can check back here November 25th for updated information.
  • New volunteers will receive an email when registration is open to new volunteers and can check back here December 7th for more information.

Volunteer Training

IRS Training Materials. IRS has a very small printing buget and has asked us to reserve copies of training materials for tax sites and for new volunteers. That said, if you find it easier to take the test using a paper copy of 6744 (test booklet), or want to borrow a 4012 and return it to you tax site so there are copies on site, send an email to and we will let you know when copies are available for pick up.

Training Overview. We are planning for new volunteer training to be primarily in-person and to offer both in-person and Zoom options for returning volunteers. We will reach out by email when the training calendar is set, and you can also check back here December 1st. Overview:

  • Returning volunteers will attend “Returning Volunteer” and “Challenging Topics” trainings which will be available on Zoom and in-person. Returning volunteers will also be able to attend “Getting to Advanced” and the New Volunteer path.
  • Reviewers and Site Coordinators will attend the designated “Reviewer” and “Site Coordinator” training classe(s).
  • New Volunteers will have about 1 hour of pre-training self-study followed by 10-12 hours of in-person classes including the certification exam.

Volunteer Certification (for RETURNING volunteers who like to get a jump start)
